Description
Enjoy a refreshing Cucumber Vodka Soda, a light and zesty cocktail perfect for summer days. This easy-to-make drink features muddled cucumber, fresh lime juice, and soda water, making it a delightful choice for casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium cucumber
- 2 ounces vodka
- 4 ounces soda water
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
- Salt (optional, for rimming the glass)
Instructions
- Wash the cucumber thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
- Slice the cucumber into thin rounds (or spears/wedges if preferred).
- Optionally, peel the cucumber for a more intense flavor, but leaving the skin on adds crunch and color.
- In a cocktail shaker or sturdy glass, add half of the cucumber slices.
- Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the cucumber slices for about 10-15 seconds to release the juices.
- Optionally, add a few mint leaves to the muddler for added flavor.
- Pour in 2 ounces of vodka over the muddled cucumber.
- Squeeze in 1 ounce of fresh lime juice.
- Fill the shaker or glass with ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds (or stir well if using a glass).
- Rim a tall or highball glass with salt (optional).
- Strain the muddled mixture into the prepared glass, using a fine mesh strainer if desired.
- Top off the drink with 4 ounces of soda water.
- Gently stir to combine, being careful not to lose carbonation.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves, slapped between your hands to release their oils.
- Optionally, add extra cucumber slices for decoration.
- Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer and enjoy!
Notes
- For a unique twist, consider adding other fruits or herbs, such as grapefruit juice or jalapeño slices.
- For a sweeter version, add a splash of simple syrup or flavored syrup.
- This drink can easily be scaled up for a crowd by multiplying the ingredients.
