Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Filling: In a medium bowl, combine shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, sour cream, green onions, and cheddar cheese. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Chill for 30 minutes (optional).
- Assemble the Crescent Rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
- Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of chicken filling onto the wide end of each triangle. Roll up towards the point, tucking in edges to seal. Repeat with the second can of dough.
- Arrange rolls on the baking sheet.
- Bake: Whisk egg with 1 tablespoon of water for egg wash. Brush tops of rolls with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional).
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and filling is heated through.
- Cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
- Serve warm, with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Add chopped vegetables (celery, carrots, bell peppers) to the filling.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
- Experiment with different cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack.
- Substitute chicken with vegetarian ground meat or chopped vegetables and beans for a vegetarian option.
- Add cooked and crumbled bacon to the filling for a smoky flavor.
- Use fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or thyme in the filling.
- Assemble the crescent rolls ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
- Baked crescent rolls can be frozen. Let them cool completely, then wrap them individually in plastic wrap and store them in a freezer bag. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
