  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Savor the rich flavors of these Blue Cheese Burgers, made with juicy ground beef and creamy blue cheese, topped with fresh arugula, tomato, and a zesty spicy mayonnaise. Ideal for grilling season or casual get-togethers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 cup arugula or spinach
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • Optional: hot sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix gently, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb.
  3. Press the crumbled blue cheese into the center of each patty, folding the edges of the meat over the cheese to seal it inside. Reshape the patties gently.
  4. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled.
  5. Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving them.
  6. Flip the patties carefully and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer for more well-done. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare, 160°F for medium).
  7. If desired, add more blue cheese on top during the last minute of cooking and cover to help it melt.
  8. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster for added texture, about 1-2 minutes.
  9. Mix the mayonnaise with a dash of hot sauce for a spicy spread.
  10. Wash and dry the arugula or spinach, and slice the tomato and red onion.
  11. Remove the cooked burgers from the grill or skillet and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
  12. Spread a tablespoon of the spicy mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  13. Place a burger patty on top, showcasing the melted blue cheese.
  14. Add arugula or spinach, a slice of tomato, and red onion rings.
  15. Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently.
  16. Serve the burgers immediately with a side of crispy fries, sweet potato fries, or a fresh salad.
  17. Offer additional hot sauce on the side for those who enjoy a spicier burger.
