Description
Enjoy a warm and comforting Peach Cobbler featuring juicy peaches and a buttery golden crust. This easy dessert is perfect for any occasion, especially when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, sliced
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- If using fresh peaches, wash them thoroughly under cold water.
- Slice the peaches into thin wedges, leaving the skin on for texture or peeling them for a smoother cobbler.
- In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle half of the sugar (1/2 cup) over the sliced peaches and toss gently to coat. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes to draw out their juices.
- In a separate bowl, combine the self-rising flour and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar. Whisk until well blended.
- Gradually add the milk to the flour mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Pour in the melted butter and stir gently until fully incorporated.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Pour the batter into the greased dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- Spoon the prepared peaches and their juices over the batter without stirring.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few crumbs.
- Once baked, let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the microwave.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg with the sugar and flour.
- Consider adding blueberries or raspberries to the peach mixture for a tart contrast.
- If using frozen peaches, no need to thaw; just toss them in sugar and proceed with the recipe.
